I am writing this in August, the middle of August, which means school! I can’t believe that we are back already. It seems like we just left for the summer and now we are back. And I’m back. I took a little blog break this summer, not by design, but by necessity. I was in places where a wi fi connection seemed to be impossible and I decided to enjoy the summer and my trips and not to be frustrated by the lack of technology.
Where did I go? Well, we drove over 7,200 miles from June 10 through August 5 and had a blast. Here are the places we went:
Where Did I Go?
- San Marcos, Texas
- South Padre Island, Texas
- Leclaire, Iowa to visit the American Pickers shop
- Lena, Illinois and surrounding areas
- Big Spring, Texas
- Tucson, Arizona
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Prescott, Arizona
It was great. We visited family in Arizona and Illinois. My mom lives and Phoenix along with my brother. My other brother lives in Prescott and my sister and her family lives in Tucson. We camped in San Marcos, watched my daughter get engaged at South Padre and drank a beer on the banks of the Mississippi. We sipped 100 dollar scotch and tequila in Cave Creek and toured the first territorial capital of Arizona in Prescott and along the way enjoyed our family and the summer.
I highly recommend traveling the great country we call the U.S.A. and enjoying her many differences and wonderful people. I however, am back at work in my main role as teacher. I will not be doing much traveling, but teaching our 8th graders about America and her history.
Stay tuned for more blogs (lots more actually) and it is good to be back.
