Day 2

Today’s Readings

Genesis 3: 1– 4: 26 Matthew 2: 13– 3: 6 Psalm 2: 1-12 Proverbs 1: 7-9

Today I read chapter three in Genesis.  The Fall.  One of the great doctrines of the Christian faith.  It is so easy to look at Eve and say I would never do that.  However, we all do “that”, rationalize, at least I do.  Did God really say?  Did my wife really say . . . ?  It is so easy to look the other way because we parse the meaning of right and wrong, good or bad, truth or lies.

Genesis 3: 1– 4: 26 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

As a Bible-believing Christian, I try to live by the words of the Bible and it behooves me to read the Bible and endeavor to understand the Bible.  Many of us who profess to be believers know little or nothing about the book we profess allegiance to, is it any wonder that there is so much confusion? If we don’t know the truth it can never set us free and we will always be tempted and fall for the first appealing thing we see.

If we don’t know the truth it can never set us free and we will always be tempted and fall for the first shiny thing we see or smooth talker we encounter.  It is incumbent on we believers to read and know the Word of God.  That is what Solomon meant in Proverbs 1, when he said, “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom:

Proverbs 1: 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools a despise wisdom and instruction.

That’s what I think, what do you think? Until next time, peace.
